How to Install a Nissan 15208-9E01A Oil Filter (OEM Fit, Zero Guesswork)

The Nissan 15208-9E01A oil filter is designed by Nissan, for Nissan. That means it threads on clean, seals right every time, and keeps your engine safe from all the grit, debris, and contaminants that want to chew up your internals.

The best part? Swapping it is about as beginner-friendly as maintenance gets. Let’s run through it step by step. And if halfway through you decide oil changes aren’t your thing—schedule here and let us do it →.

Step 1: Fitment Check

The Nissan 15208-9E01A filter features:

  • Thread size: M20 x 1.5

  • Outer diameter: ~65 mm (2.56 in)

  • Height: ~85 mm (3.35 in)

It’s used on a wide range of Nissan and Infiniti applications—Altima, Maxima, Sentra, Frontier, 350Z/370Z, G35/G37, and more. If you’re driving a modern Nissan and it specs an OEM filter, this is most likely it.

Step 2: Tools & Materials

  • Nissan 15208-9E01A oil filter

  • Fresh engine oil (check your owner’s manual for weight/capacity)

  • Oil filter wrench

  • Drain pan

  • Funnel

  • Jack + jack stands

  • Rags/shop towels

Step 3: Prep the Vehicle

Warm the car up for 3–5 minutes so the oil flows easier, then shut it down and let it cool ~20 minutes. Park on level ground, engage the parking brake, and lift the vehicle securely on jack stands.

Step 4: Drain the Old Oil

  • Position drain pan under the oil plug.

  • Remove plug and let the oil drain completely.

  • Replace the crush washer if required and snug the plug back in (torque per factory spec).

Step 5: Remove the Old Filter

  • Position drain pan under the oil filter.

  • Use the filter wrench to loosen counter-clockwise, then spin off by hand.

  • Confirm the old rubber gasket comes off with it.

Step 6: Prep the New 15208-9E01A Filter

  • Apply a thin coat of fresh oil to the new gasket.

  • Verify the mounting surface is clean and gasket-free.

Step 7: Install the New Filter

  • Thread on by hand until the gasket contacts the engine.

  • Tighten an additional ½–¾ turn by hand only.

Step 8: Refill with Oil

  • Funnel in fresh oil, slightly less than full capacity.

  • Cap it, start the engine, let it idle for a minute.

  • Check for leaks at the drain plug and filter.

  • Shut down, recheck oil level, and top off as needed.

Wrap-Up

That’s it—OEM Nissan filter installed, oil topped off, car ready to roll. Clean, simple, and exactly as Nissan intended.
